The Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings will begin after Labor Day. In response, activists and concerned citizens gathered around the country on August 26th for a national day of action to tell our Senators: Kavanaugh is WRONG for the U.S. Supreme Court.
Kavanaugh has said that a sitting President should not be prosecuted — not even investigated — which means the President doesn't have to answer questions about possible crimes. Kavanaugh's also hinted that a sitting President shouldn't be sued either, but it doesn't stop there; he still refuses to release documents regarding his voting records. His extreme positions threaten equal rights for all citizens, our environment and our economy.
There’s no doubt: Kavanaugh would rule to attack voting rights and LGBTQ rights, slash environmental protections, gut reproductive rights, and further damage workers’ and immigrant rights. If Senators vote to confirm Kavanaugh, they would cement into place the worst and most dangerous of Donald Trump’s policies and a legacy that will live on for decades after he's gone. Kavanaugh on the court means an end to Roe v Wade; any hope of getting money out of politics; and a Supreme Court which does not back the investigation into Trump's illegal and traitorous activities. Trump's lawyer just pled guilty to two counts of violation of campaign finance laws and said Trump directed him to pay off Stormy Daniels and his other mistress. Furthermore, is it right that a president under investigation gets to pick his own judges? A resounding NO!
🗣 We can NOT have a Supreme Court Justice who thinks the president is above the law. ⚖️
The folks at Indivisible KC
Hosted by Senator Claire McCaskill
Because Indivisible KC's mission is to engage with elected officials, we attended this year's state fair in hopes of interacting with all our Missouri state elected officials in one place. Since Senator Blunt was the only elected official to not attend the nonpartisan Governor's Ham Breakfast and instead chose to hide behind partisan politics, we decided to attend the Missouri GOP Salute to Agriculture Rally to hear what he had to say in his speech, because all Missourians deserve the opportunity to hear from their elected officials.
65th Governor's Ham Breakfast & Auction
The Governor’s Ham Breakfast is a nonpartisan, traditional gathering of Missouri elected officials, leaders in agriculture and supporters of the Missouri State Fair. Proceeds from the auction of the Champion Hams, Grand Champion Bacon and Belt Buckle are used by the Missouri State Fair Foundation to pay premiums to winning exhibitors and to provide scholarships for youth in agriculture. More than 1000 Missourians attend this annual event steeped in history and tradition. The breakfast features great Missouri Grown products and was provided by Jackson's, LCC of Marshall, Missouri.

Indivisible KC Statement Regarding
Our Removal from the MO GOP Agriculture Rally
We are always asking "Where's Roy?!" Well, we found him Thursday, August 17th, 2017. But instead of talking to the elected official, three of our Indivisible KC leaders ended up talking to the Sheriff. At the State Fair they attended a Rally celebrating MO Agriculture where Senator Blunt and many other elected officials were speaking. Upon arrival at the event they were singled out by Sen. Blunt's staffer and confronted by an official for the Missouri GOP who brought a Sheriff to address them. They were told they better behave. During the event they had security and staffers surrounding them, watching their every move. It was incredibly disappointing to receive such an overreaction based only on the possibility that they might disagree. Everyone deserves to hear what our elected officials have to say. In the end the IKC leaders were kicked out of the event by another representative of the GOP and escorted out by the Sheriff. They weren't removed for causing a disturbance, voicing opposition or even speaking at all; they were aggressively confronted and yelled at by the GOP representative for trying to take a picture of their elected official.

On April 30th, we finished our first 100 days of Member of Congress office visits, aptly named Resist Trump Tuesdays because, you guessed it, all visits were held on Tuesdays. Each week, based on current events, issues were chosen and constituents gathered with signs and concerns. Barely taking a breath (or missing a beat) after the 100th day, we turned right around and scheduled the next 100 days of office visits. This time we mixed it up a bit and assigned different days for each MoC while reducing frequency because after all, this is a marathon ... not a sprint.
And now, here we are! It's hard to believe that we've completed yet another 100 days. It has been a grueling, Trumpcare-dominated session but, the ACA still hasn't been repealed. In the end, the AHCA, BCRA, ORRA, and the eleventh hour skinny bill all took their much deserved positions in the trash heap of history. Thanks to constituents and their non-stop calls, letters, office visits, and pressure, Trump and his administration are struggling to define their wins. It has been a long 200 days, but we have no plans to let up. All of us at Indivisible KC are in it for the long haul because the future of this great nation is at stake.❣️ 🇺🇸
