Presentations & Workshops by Co-Hosts: United We Stand KC, Stand Up KC, Missouri NAACP State Conference, Indivisible KC and held on the campus of University of Missouri at Kansas City
Original event announcement:
“In the wake of Trump’s election there’s great peril and promise in America. In response to the attacks on democracy, equality, and justice for all a historic movement has arisen. We come together as one people to organize our strength in numbers and mobilize a mass action on May 1st and conference on May 5th – 7th under the banner, “United We Stand: From Resistance to Opposition to Political Power.”
We know the divisions created by nativism, racism, Islamophobia, sexism, homophobia, and anti-Semitism destroy our democracy and divide the American people. They sap our ability to come together to win guarantees of living wages, healthcare, decent housing, quality education, voting rights, and the voices on our jobs that all Americans deserve. We further recognize that by coming together and overcoming these divisions, we can bring America closer to its promise of equality, freedom, and justice for all.
We call for a mass action and conference that’ll bring together all of us who are under attack. We take this effort with one goal in mind: To form a united, organized, and sustained movement that can grow our numbers in the streets and translate it into an electoral movement at the ballot box that is capable of long-term social and political power.”
