Missouri Moms Demand Action on 2/19/19
Evolution of MO Gun Laws
By Jennifer Joyce
Senate Bill 121 - Vote NO!
Keep guns out of the hands of convicted deomestic violence offendors.
Missouri is 7th in the nation for the rate of women murdered by men; 65 women last year. The majority die by gun violence.
Missouri Moms Demand Action is working hard to get the Missouri Legislature to pass HB 960. This bill would keep guns out of the hands of domestic violence offenders (including child abuse, domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault and rape). Convicted domestic violence offenders would be barred indefinitely from purchasing firearms.
Encourage your legislator to get involved with hearings and supporting/co-sponsoring HB 960.
You can find a sample letter here.
Federal law prevents convicted domesic violence offenders from purchasing firearms. Missouri does not have a matching state law, which means only federal law enforcement and federal prosecutors can enforce the law. HB-960 would bring MO law parallel with federal law so it can be enforced at the state level as well.
